August Wilson Theatre Rules

In order to create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, guests are asked to report any inappropriate behavior to an August Wilson Theatre Usher or Security Officer.

Guests must comply with requests from venue staff and security regarding facility operations and emergency response procedures, for their own safety.

Guests are asked to show their tickets when requested and sit only in the seats designated to them.

Alcohol policy

Alcoholic beverages must be consumed in a responsible manner and in compliance with law.

Behavior

As an intimate venue, The August Wilson Theatre has strict rules about disruptive behavior and late arrivals.

Guests are advised that fighting, throwing objects, using foul/abusive language or gestures, attempting to enter restricted areas or engaging in other behavior detrimental to the experience of other guests is not allowed and will lead to the perpetrator being immediately ejected from the venue.

Guests must not interfere with the event or performers in any way.

bag policy

All bags will undergo security checks at The August Wilson Theatre. The venue recommends small, hand-held clutches or clear bags for faster inspection and, while medical bags are permitted, they will also be checked.

dress code

Shirts, shoes and lower garments must be worn at all times.

doors open

Doors open 60 minutes before showtime, so it’s advised to arrive with plenty of time for security checks.

Prohibited items

The theater will not permit any of the following items:

• Alcohol brought in from outside the venue
• Illegal substances
• Personal alarms
• Lighters
• Glass bottles or containers
• E-bikes or e-scooters.

The management team has the right to prohibit other items as necessary.

Smoking policy

No smoking is allowed anywhere inside The August Wilson Theatre at any time.

child policy

Children under five are not permitted to view shows at The August Wilson Theatre. Some shows may be more family-friendly with specific age recommendations, so it is always best to check before booking. Everyone requires a ticket, regardless of age.

Animal Policy

You cannot bring pets into The August Wilson Theatre. If you have a service animal such as a guide dog, this is allowed, though management may need to check.
